Ackbar is a Mon Calamari leader and military commander. Aptly given a name that means "selfless servant", Ackbar devotes himself to the cause of galactic freedom and is the foremost military commander of the Alliance to Restore the Republic.

Ackbar led Alliance forces in their first victory against the Imperial Navy and has been the rising star of the rebel fleet ever since. Ackbar personally commanded the assault upon the second Death Star, and while some observers may question the value of the role he played, none can deny the success of the fleet he commands. They have achieved the impossible, defeat of an Imperial fleet.

Wedge Antilles is a legendary Corellian X-wing pilot, intelligence operative, and officer fighting for the Rebel Alliance from the earliest days of the Galactic Civil War. While Luke Skywalker is the last hope for the Jedi and Han Solo a natural leader, Wedge is widely regarded as a "working class hero". Antilles serves in Starfighter Command, repeatedly defying terrifying odds, and is among the very few to survive the battles of Yavin, Hoth, and Endor.

He holds the distinction of being the only pilot to have faced both Death Stars and survived.

An Imperial Army officer turned Rebel Alliance military leader, Crix Madine is responsible for the formation and training of special forces for both the Empire and the Rebellion. An important member of Rebel High Command, he planned and coordinated the ground attack upon the Death Star's shield generator. Given his special operations experience, he would seem a logical choice to have led the assault but his knowledge of Imperial tactics and doctrine is still far too valuable to risk on such a mission.

A native of Chandrila, Mon Mothma is an important political figure during the waning days of the Galactic Republic and one of the founders of the Rebel Alliance. As the most outspoken opponent of Palpatine's seizure of power, Mothma was quickly branded a traitor and arrest warrants were filed. Leia Organa (born Leia Amidala Skywalker) is the daughter of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and Senator Padmé Amidala of Naboo, making her the younger twin sister of Luke Skywalker, unknown to her and most of the galaxy. After her birth she became the adopted daughter of Bail Organa and Queen Breha of Alderaan, making her a Princess of Alderaan. An accomplished Senator, Organa is most famous for her strong leadership during the Rebellion, particularly follows the dissolution of the Imperial Senate. One of the most important figures in the Galactic Civil War, she has been a politician, fighter, and spy.

Possessed of a forceful personality and bright intellect, she is an influential force through out the galaxy. Since joining the Rebellion, Leia has been groomed by Mon Mothma as her successor.

Carlist Rieekan is an important military commander in the Rebel Alliance who began his career during the Clone Wars. A native of Alderaan, he was assigned outside that system when the planet was destroyed. Shortly afterwards he joined the rebellion and has been an extremely valuable commander ever since. He is best known for his tenacious defenses, particularly at the battles of Nentan, Tiems, Dankayo and Hoth, which allowed the outnumbered and over-matched rebels to retreat safely and attack the Empire at a later date.

Luke Skywalker, is the son of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker (also well known as the Sith Lord Darth Vader) and Naboo Senator Padmé Amidala, and the older twin brother of Leia Organa Solo, though few living are aware of these facts. A celebrated pilot and leader, Skywalker is most famous for destroying the first Death Star.

He disappeared for a time and returned with new abilities and skills, claiming to have been trained by someone named Yoda. Since his return he faced Darth Vader in single combat, rescued Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt and is prepared to join in the attack upon the second Death Star.

Unknown to his friends and allies, Luke is planning to confront Darth Vader with the hope of convincing him to turn away from the dark side of the force.

Trained to fly the fighters and cruisers of the Rebel Alliance in combat against the superior numbers of the Imperial Navy, pilots of the Rebellion are skilled and deadly fliers.
